Gingerbread House Decorating Party

There's no better way to kick off the Winter Break than with a Gingerbread House Decorating Party. And ofcourse we also read The Gingerbread Baby book. Thanks Miss Kayla for all your hard work in making the cutest tiniest gingerbread houses!

Beeswax Candlemaking

The children enjoyed making candles to give as holiday gifts for their parents. They rolled the candles themselves! They turned out so beautiful and smelled to nice.

Decorating the Classroom for the Holidays

For the month of December we spent time listening and dancing to the music of Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker. We also learned about Winter Celebrations from around the world.

Drum Circle

The toddler community joined the Children's House for a drum circle during our Thanksgiving Celebration. We sat in a large circle outside and drummed along to some beautiful Native American music. All of the children were so proud to perform with the drums they had decorated on their own.

International Day of Peace

It is DSM's tradition each year to celebrate Peace Day instead of Halloween. The children all dress up in costumes representing children from around the world. We hold a peace march to parade in our costumes, read peaceful books, listen to cultural music, create artworks representing different countries, and hold a multicultural potluck lunch.
